Well first off i would like to say that the Colossus isn't as strong as it should be.I was in a battle and my Colossus was almost killed by 5 Corvettes! And the Colossus does not do as much Damage as it should. For instance It should kill corvettes in 1 hit from a Heavy beam cannon (BGreen) and a Meduin beam (Terslash).

to be honest, it's hard to tell the amount of dps (damage per second) a beam actually does in FS 1/2. Take for example Ravana, between it's 4 heavy beams it can take down a GTVA destroyer regardless of it's class. So you can see how it's hard to tell where to draw the line between being balanced and being cannon. It should also be noted that the colossus does run into a few problems. it's so long that most of it's beams can't hit a target if it's in front of it or behind it, simply due to the beam range. of course when we balance that, it makes the colossus with rather silly amount of beam range.
after playing around with the big C today, i can say that the issue you most likely talking about is that of the sobek being below the beam cannon on the big C. this is an issue with the sobek it's self rather then the big C. as it stands in my working version, it would take 5 corvettes about 20-30 mins to kill - more then enough time to build bombers to destroy them.

I killed a Sathanas with just 1 Deimos, but man that took long. It's all about where the beams can hit, and how much range they have. Sathanas has a blindspot right infront of it if you position the ship right..

Sathanas has a big blind spot - everywhere behind it's main beams .
Also , in FS2 it takes seconds to take down a ship using beam cannons . And I think that there should be some info in the table files on how much damage do beams make .

No th Colossus was attacking 5 corvettes and they were getting hit and took 3 heavys and 3 mediums for one to die.And the Battle lasted for all of 1 minute. The Sobeks have like Destroyer weaponry.

The SVas is nowhere near Destroyer quality weaponry. Though efficient at the job its meant to do, it's nowhere near destroyer quality. And if the Colossus killed 5 corvettes in span of 1 minute, thats quite good. The Colossus isn't actually meant to engage multiple targets, its meant to broadside Lucifer class super destroyers with all its beams, rather than use them on multiple targets. Remember, The Colossus is a paper tiger in FS2 as well.
It's only dangerous to destroyer classes, while smaller targets tend to get missed by its beam due to the HW2 engine. Think it as a weapon of intimidation, not as a way to kill off your enemy in 1 swift strike. Though its a powerful ship, its also a very large target, and expensive to build. And it can only be at one place at a time, while multiple destroyers could engage targets on multiple fronts.

duelron, shadows right about the tables, i ripped apart the FS2 files for a while and in the weaps table i think it gives all the values. one thing i dont know is if its the total damage for the whole shot or its per second thing, either way it should be easy to figure out which. ill send you what i can find.
ok straight from the weapons table-most of it is crap mind u:
$Name: TerSlash $Mass: 100.0 $Velocity: 1000.0 ;; speed of the weapon (initially) -- may or may not change $Fire Wait: 10.0 ;; in seconds $Damage: 350 ;; NOTE: for beam weapons this is kind of a "continuous" damage applied every few fractions of a second that the beam is on. $Armor Factor: 1.0 $Shield Factor: 1.0 $Subsystem Factor: 1.0 $Lifetime: 30.0 ;; How long this thing lives $Energy Consumed: 0.30 ;; Energy used when fired +Weapon Range: 4000 ;; Limit to range at which weapon will actively target object $BeamInfo: +Type: 1 ;; 0 - 4 are valid #'s +Life: 2.0 ;; how long it lasts once the beam is actually firing +Warmup: 3000 ;; warmup time in ms +Warmdown: 1500 ;; warmdown time in ms +Miss Factor: 0.5 0.975 1.35 1.875 2.5 ;; magic # - higher == miss more (only really applicable to type 0 and type 3 beams)
[EDITED BY MODERATOR]Removed Useless Crap that simply made the post larger for no reason.
