Yes I know, but if there is anything at all to base it off of then it could work, like since they say somewhere that the ancients are partially related to the Vesudans maybe you could make the ships seem Vesudan in design but with a little bit of exoticness to them that makes them clearly that of a different race.

I think there would be more people still interested in a Freespace 2 mod as it is a lot more recent. Also, if you based it on FS2, you could have the Colossus and the Sathanas as the Battle Cruisers.

ancient ships? we're not doing the shivan-ancient war, there is no cannon material on the war other then that it happened and the ancients got their ass wooped. i mean we can't really expand it more then that.

I'm wondering, will the speed of ships be increased? Also..what about the ship descriptions for each race? I kinda noticed that while playing as the Shivan, the ships were given descriptions from the Terran's point of view..Is that going to change as well, along with giving out the armament details.
And not to nit-pick..i did notice that the "Stiletto" missiles were mispelled along with other words. I'm..hoping that all these tiny little details will be fixed in later releases as it kinda (to me) detracts from the FS-HW2 experience. But don't get me wrong that i'm insulting the mod crew or anything. This is a great mod, and I really praise you for making this because I can't mod for beans. I plan to play this mod till the very end.

Cause making describtions up is painful when you already have one there for you, and it defines the point of the ship nicely. All you need to do is add armanent details, and some of them aren't filled out cause..uh we don't have all the weapons ported yeat.
And spelling problems are a minor point imo, there are things far more concerning than that, like Balance.

well i can't disagree with you, but i'm just saying..as long as it's addressed. i can see that spelling isn't the top priority in the mod, but you'll eventually get to it, right?

Sure, after we get shields, nodes, game mode, resourcing and convoys done we should correct all spelling errors.

What i'm wondering/suggesting (because i have seen no indication of this idea anywhere else), is will there be researching tech trees? such as to simulate the progress of the campaign, for instance the progress of the terrans:
Apollo --> valkrie --> shield tech --> avenger anti-shield cannons, and so on and so forth
and be able to research each technology and apply it to your ships, and then upgrade certain technologies as you see fit.
this would make it so that you couldnt build your best units off the bat of the game, and also give it more of a "each skirmish is a campaign" feel. you could also have it so that certain eras, such as post FS1 era, have certain technologies already researched.
for instance, in Post FS1 era, you would start with stuff like medium-strength shielding, and weapons that are PRE-FS2 and POST-FS1 researched.
also with regards to the shivans in this aspect, they would start with shield technology, but not have as strong shields (such as during the FS1 campaign) and then have them slowly upgrade their shields with time.
also with regards to the sensor cloaking technology that prevents ships from tracking shivan ships on radar during the early stages of FS1, you could create a localised EMP-Probe effect (smaller radius of course) around shivan ships, and have players who are fighting shivans research the neccesary technology to unlock a localised scanner (or advanced probe/scout) detecting field around their fighters.
while this is very complicated, and i honestly dont expect most of it to be taken seriously, it would add to the canon-realism.
basically what i'm asking is for someone to consider the idea of adding a tech tree to simulate the progress of the FS campaigns.
this IS after all the mod suggestions board.

Yes, there will be researching trees.
